Detail: At the time there was a magic mill in Denmark, which no one had been strong enough to operate. Frodi, the Danish king, purchased two giantess slave girls, Fenja and Menja, who were large and strong. He made them grind out gold, peace, and prosperity, allowing them no rest, until finally they ground out an army against him, led by the sea king, Mysing. Mysing conquered Frodi, seized the mill and the slaves and bade them to grind salt. He too allowed them no rest. A little later, the ship sank, apparently from the grinding of the slave girls, and that is why the sea is salty.

Fenja is a  Scandinavian goddess of physical prowess.
